" Everyone Needs Art in Their Lives"
Painting allows me to express myself non-verbally. I forget all about life's problems and become totally immersed in the process. I love to work with texture and layers, often adding collaged text to my work. I also love making expressive marks with a variety of tools - charcoal, graphite, acrylic paint pens, and different tools to scratch into the surface. I want there to be an interplay between what is visible on the surface and the layers beneath.
The colors that I use are extremely important. I want to catch the viewers eye with beautiful color, and then as they move closer, to be surprised by the texture and layers. Soft muted neutrals and blues are my colors of choice - the colors of the ocean ,sand and weathered wood. But I also like to mix it up with bright turquoise and teal, or classic black and white.
